Acceptable Use Policy

1. Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs the use of SMAD Portal and related services provided by Extant 2000, LLC. By using the platform, you agree to comply with this policy. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account.

2. Permitted Use

SMAD Portal is designed for legitimate mission engineering and spacecraft program management. Permitted uses include:

  • Spacecraft mission analysis, design, and planning
  • Requirements management, verification, and traceability
  • Risk assessment and mitigation tracking
  • Engineering calculations (mass, power, link, thermal budgets)
  • Program management, scheduling, and cost estimation
  • Team collaboration on mission engineering activities
  • Document generation and review for phase gate processes
  • Academic and educational use for spacecraft engineering courses

3. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited:

Security & Integrity

  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to other users' data, accounts, or platform infrastructure
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling any part of the platform
  • Introducing malware, viruses, or other harmful code
  • Performing vulnerability scans or penetration tests without prior written authorization
  • Circumventing access controls, authentication mechanisms, or rate limits

Content & Data

  • Uploading or storing content that violates applicable export control regulations (ITAR, EAR) without appropriate authorization and platform configuration
  • Storing classified or controlled unclassified information (CUI) unless using an approved air-gapped deployment
  • Using the platform to store content unrelated to mission engineering for the purpose of circumventing storage limits
  • Uploading content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights

Platform Abuse

  • Automated scraping, crawling, or data extraction beyond documented API use
  • Creating accounts for the purpose of reselling access
  • Using the API to build a competing product
  • Generating excessive load intended to degrade service for other users
  • Sharing account credentials with unauthorized individuals

4. Export Control Compliance

Users are responsible for ensuring that their use of SMAD Portal complies with all applicable export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

For missions involving export-controlled data, customers must use an appropriately configured deployment (air-gapped or ITAR-compliant cloud instance) and maintain their own export control compliance program.

5. Enforcement

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations of this policy. Enforcement actions may include:

  • Warning: Written notice describing the violation and required corrective action
  • Temporary suspension: Account access may be suspended pending investigation or remediation
  • Termination: Persistent or severe violations may result in permanent account termination

We will make reasonable efforts to notify the account holder before taking enforcement action, except where immediate action is necessary to protect the platform or other users.

6. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any activity that violates this policy, please report it to security@extant2000.com. Reports may be submitted anonymously and will be reviewed within 2 business days.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to account holders at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
